Please pray for little Stellan...he is in very bad shape.
I've started a new photography blog called Shutter-Mama which will track my journey on a 365-day project in improving my photography skills. Each day I will try to take 1 unique picture to post. Click here to take a look...enjoy!
Read more...Thom and Abbie attended the annual Father/Daughter Dinner Dance at our school/church on Sunday. Abbie wasn't feeling well at all as she was starting a bad head cold. But she so looks forward to this event every year so they went for awhile. They both had an excellent time and even danced together, including a slow dance! They took professional pictures which I'll put up later when we receive them.
Thom and I decided to paint our kitchen and breakfast room on Valentine's Day. Isn't that what everyone does on the most romantic day of the year? Apparently so, as I saw two other Abiding Savior friends at Lowe's that morning in the paint department! Anyways, I thought I had picked out the perfect color to "warm-up" this section of our house. WRONG! What was called "Spice" on the paint chip actually turned out to be the color of ORANGE dreamsicles or sherbet!!! Yikes - it really messes with your eyes! The pictures just don't even do it justice! Its a shame because we actually got finished fairly quickly and had fun, too. Abbie even got into it. To make it more "romantic" for Valentine's Day, Thom painted a heart on the wall with our initials! :)
It was nice having a Valentine's Day on a Saturday! We got Henry a small LEGO set and Abbie some Playmobil animals for her Zoo and Farm and as usual, Thom got the kids new socks (its a longtime tradition, even from his own mom and dad). Thom got me a new Wii game and socks. I got him a printer server and a Louis Armstrong poster for his Armstrong Wall of Fame in our basement (he has Lance Armstrong and Neil Armstrong), kind of a joke but they looked good!
Abbie and Henry enjoyed their Valentine's Parties at school last week...Henry REALLY savored a heart-shaped doughnut with sprinkles!
We had a really good weekend! Friday night, we had pizza and watched Space Buddies. Great family movie for the little ones! Saturday, Abbie had a birthday party to attend at Monkey Joe's, then we just hung out at home and had Chinese for dinner. Sunday was church, the grade school open house, then dinner at our house with Thom's family. Thom and I cooked a big breakfast complete with pancakes, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, and cook to order eggs and omelets. Surprisingly, everything was timed just right and Thom did an awesome job in the egg department! Cleanup, of course, was a little greasy! :)
The kids were off from school on Tuesday and Wednesday because we got about 8 inches of snow! The kids have been looking forward to playing in the snow all winter and it finally arrived! We had a great two days playing outside, playing the Wii, playing with Legos and Playmobil, and drinking hot chocolate! On Tuesday, we spent the afternoon and evening at Grandma Pat's and drove home in heavy snow around 8pm! That was interesting! I had no problems except to get up the driveway into the garage - had to spin those tires a bit! :)
So we just got a Wii video game system a little over a week ago and the family is loving it! We sure like the bowling and have "been" to the bowling alley a couple of evenings this week! :)
